The 1991 acura Legend
Some Legends are made, this one is built..
It didn't cause anyone from BMW to go back to the drawing board but it made everybody stand up and take notice.
Within five years, that stretched out Honda Accord with the Rover face had a significant impact on the automotive world, winning countless awards for outstanding reliability and putting the world on notice. It had its first model change in 1991 and with that, the second generation Acura Legend was born.
Problems and recalls: The airbags that were designed in 1989 and fitted to this car in pre-development 1990's cars needed to be replaced. The exterior lighting blew fuses constantly. The Stereo was recalled if it was accompanied by the new CD player that had a tendency to skip. Honda also had a lot of complaints with its updated 4-speed automatic transmission. An Acura recall was issued on that to update the software in 1993.
The Legend was propelled by Honda's new 3.2liter V-TECH engine
The reliable big six was good for about 200 horses and could clear 16mpg city and 24mpg highway. Not bad for a large full sized Luxury Coupe.
