UPDATE: Our first report on this hot bubble came just before it's intro in late October of 2011..
.......And now comes the Convertible..
Many different versions on tap
Diesel buyers can go for the 2.0-liter diesel four-cylinder engine, rated at 140 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. VW says the diesel gets 41 mpg on the highway and if that rings true then you already know what my pick is... Also available is the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, rated at 200 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque. These engines can be mated to the six-speed manual or six-speed dual-clutch automatic makes the VW turbo the powerhouse.
Turbo 2.0t Hardtop, and the large sunroof sets it off..!
The love bug's new face, new body and a whole new attitude is a college kid on a budgets dream.
The greatest part about this is thing the larger and more masculine body that Volkswagen has chosen to use. Where the last model "New Beetle", was small and took a more feminine approach complete with Daisy's, this thing ain't no wallflower.
The flat bottom steering wheel and the new interior fits the cars quirky, yet sporty attitude perfectly. The seats are comfortable and fit you like a glove. This car is much more grown up and it's easy to see that Volkswagen wants the new target to be men. Everything from the panoramic sunroof to the two glove boxes, one up and one down, the bigger than before rear hatch and the folding rear seats, (if more space is needed), and the gimicky flashing speakers, a la Kia. I've got to say that this thing has had a much needed dose of testosterone, yet they took great care not to alienate the mostly female drivers of the last model. It also offers an I Pod connect, bluetooth and GPS, something that I think all cars built today should come equipped with. Also exclusive to Volkswagen, a Fender sound system with 400 watts of power that comes as an option and it sounds great..!
Gauges set atop the stereo and add just enough sport and flair to make you take notice and flair to the car...
Without the skirts and spoilers, I'm still just as hot!
UPDATE: The car has already had many complaints from new buyers of the 2013 Beetle about the drivers side window becoming stuck and wont go up all the way. If you are going to buy or lease, check it out and write VW a letter so that this will be fixed in the future lineup.
Driving this car was a blast.. Volkswagen has truly done a great job of mating together this car and it's power plant.. We were fortunate enough to be able to drive the 2.0T. Great speed off the line and we found it to be extremely quiet, composed and competent on our test drive through Austell Georgia. Man what a shot of protein and a better platform can do..!
Product shown here is from the floor of the Volkswagen display at an Auto Show. This model will later be offered, both at dealerships as well as at your friendly neighborhood auto custom shop. We don't know, however if the "R" badge will make it to these shores. Start the Fire, and please watch your hands because it's Hot..!
