Cadillac moves to New York and rocks the world... ..Again
The Cadillac CT-6
Car companies are always patting themselves on the back for one thing or another. A new car here, a new car there, look at the light design, look at our aerodynamics, check out our new interior designs and our ambient lighting. But very few car companies are moving and shaking things up like the Cadillac division of General Motors..
And stand out they do.. There are many enthusiasts which for some reason or another love to think that every car buyer and company is in direct competition. This may be true on some levels, however I find that if I like BMW then there is no substitute for BMW. If I want a Jaguar then there is no substitute. Acura has no substitute. Mercedes Benz's are heavy, luxurious, over complicated German sedan(s) and coupe(s) for which there is also NO substitute.. Let's face it. When you love it, you love it, and when you want it, you want it and because we are all somewhat 'Brand Whores' anyway we generally buy a car and if we love it, 6 times out of 10, we stick to that brand.. You can also add Cadillac into that fray because if you want or simply need a Cadillac then there is no other substitute American, German or Japanese that will suffice for this brand of luxury motoring..
Smooth posh and plush is the word
Appointed with enough technology that it would take me till next year to talk about. It has optional all-wheel-drive, heated and cooled seats, some of the finest perforated leather, wood, and metal this side of Ethan Allen, Cadillac's eight speed transmission, steering wheel controls, head up display, pop up video screens (rear), four zone climate control, navigation, 4G hotspot, crystal displays, push button start, not less than 4 cameras that give you a full 360 degree display of everything around the car.. There is also an overlay in the rear view mirror that allows you to see past the passengers in the rear seat as well as the rear pillars allowing for a full unobstructed view of whats behind you and if that's still not enough, Cadillac's version of Auto Cruise (Autonomous self driving and parking) a 10" display with the next version of Cadillac CUE.
A better way of thinking propulsion
A 2.0 liter turbo charged 4 cylinder is the base motor.. A 3.6 liter V-6 is next in line but the big news will be the new 3.0 liter twin turbo V-6. As the 2.0T may cause outrage to some because it's a four cylinder engine, fret not consumers.. Cadillac used a combination of magnesium, aluminum, steel, and titanium for the Ct-6 platform making it extremely strong and light.. Even though the car looks massive parked next to baby brother CTS, they weigh nearly the same.. The little turbo that could propels the Big Caddy to 60 mph in the 6 to 7 second time frame and gets 30 mpg on the highway.. Hell, gimme one of those..!
The rear end of the CT-6 with his boomerang taillights quad exhaust, huge trunk and big overhangs is unmistakably luxurious and unmistakably Cadillac all without being too bright, to shiny, or too gaudy.
