...and boy was it a future Shock:
the 2014 jeep Cherokee
Thus far the backlash has been swift and direct and nobody is holding back on letting this new Cherokee have it.. At the introduction at the New York Auto Show, I overheard some journalist, as well as custodians who said that they thought it was the ugliest thing in the world, and back then I would have agreed with them, but after seeing it so many times and knowing that it won't be replacing the full sized SUV, I must admit that it has grown on me. Like it or not though, it's already on the assembly lines and will soon be all up in your face so get ready..!
Like it or not, it's already on the assembly line...
Faster, more frugal, more technical and a good leap forward.
The Tigershark engine boasts 184 horsepower and 171lb ft of torque. The Pentastar V6 gets 271 horsepower and 239lb ft of torque. Jeep will also offer another first with the availability of a 9-speed automatic transmission that will not only get the Jeep moving out smoothly and quietly, but will also have that last tall gear that will allow the driver to achieve more astounding numbers on the highway. As a matter of fact, the 2014 Jeep Cherokee is supposed to be 45% more frugal than the Jeep Liberty, and that's a big number.
This SUV is right in line with the the current trends of downsizing and still getting the most out of your dollar. It has every option known to man including Push Button Start, Configurable Liquid Crystal instrumentation, Magic Seats w/ Storage under the cushion, Cruise, Power Everything, an 8in Touch Screen w/Navigation, a Wireless Charging Pad, Chrysler's U-Connect w/apps, sunroof, AWD with switch to low range and the ability to climb like a billy-goat on steroids..!
Now, as we said earlier in the write up, there is and there will be no escaping this little SUV as Jeeps are literally everywhere that you turn, and they are serious about getting back the market lost to other builders of small, great looking, dependable and efficient SUV's.
The seats are comfortable, you sit very much upright with a commanding view of the road. There all kinds of toys at your fingertips and I can enjoy the wind blowing on my scalp at 70mph with the sunroof opened. There is AWD w/low range at the push of a button and the 4cylinder gets an estimated 490 mile cruising range from a full to empty tank on the highway... If you asked me, I think Chrysler is once again Very, Very Hungry... Lets keep feeding them and see what happens...
