Oh, you better believe it...!
Buick has recently re-registered the Riviera name plate. Great thing to, as GM has never registered any name plate if they weren't going to use it, right..? I remember just a few short years ago the old stodgy crew at the old GM would have given this hot creation the thumbs down for the American consumer. I have always hated how GM especially, came up with these beautiful concept designs and then went off to build some double watered down stuff for the public. Well, luckily, those days are over....
In 2007 Edward T. Welburn, Master and Chief of designs at GM, was mostly responsible for this creation. The first and highest ranking African American at GM has lead the Concept productions of the Concept Corvette Stingray, the new Cadillac's, and the hot new Buicks that are also now on the road.
The Buick "Gullwing" Riviera Concept was created for introduction at the Shanghai Auto Circuit. Buick builds and sells more cars in China than it actually does at home. Doors are a specialty on this big bad Buick coupe. Will it make production..? It does in the next Tesla... Will Buick be that bold? I hope so. Sexy, a coupe and gullwings.. This would be quite a step in the right direction, as GM has recently been hitting the balls out of the park.
THE INTERIOR IS HOT AND FULL OF CURRENT BUICK CUES, BUT DON'T EXPECT IT IN PRODUCTION...
Again, though this is not a new concept, the Idea of bringing it to the public is. I just hope it is done like most of the concepts that are going rogue now... With minimal Changes..! Thanks again GM and Mr. Welburn for the changing around of General Motors and the outstanding products that are now being produced. Great work.. We will be waiting to see what comes out of this. Thanks for reading auto News for the month of July, 2012.. This is Dre' Deuces..!
