The 2014 Porsche 911 GT3.. Thanks Sapphire Steele
Porsche issues a recall on the GT3
This Wednesday March 19, just as I was about to take my tester, A Convertible Corvette Stingray back to the dealership, (by the way thanks Freddie. Gotta get it again on a sunny day to properly wring it out), Porsche issued a Recall Warning for all 2014 911 GT3 owners.. You are to immediately stop driving your vehicles due to a potential engine fire that has occurred during recent 911 GT3 testing..
quote: Following an internal investigation prompted by two such incidents, Porsche has confirmed and has identified the problem resulting from a loosened screw joint on the connecting rod. The loose connecting rod, damages the crankcase, which in turn has resulted in an oil leak and then in at least two cases, it ignited and..
Wow! $100,000 down the drain..
Instead of doing the very complicated and time consuming work of dismantling all of the nearly 800 or so on the recall, Porsche has decided to drop the engine and replace it entirely.. Currently the production of the Porsche 911 GT3 is on hold until the engines in the cars that are already on the dealership floors, (about 200 worldwide), have been replaced.. The recall itself covers in total about a little less than 1000 cars and the repair according to Porsche is to just fit the new engines with an optimal screw and completely that solves the problem..
Porsche is generally one of the most trouble free cars that you can buy so lets hope this clears up the problem.. At this time no person has been hurt, and no owner has called Porsche in regards to problems with their car.. ..So again, If you own this car, the 2014 Porsche GT3, you are to stop driving it immediately and call your local dealership for repairs..
