2016 Chevrolet Camaro illustratioin
The pony car war has just got hot all over again...
Even though word on the street for the longest amount of time is that Camaro was supposed to go to the ATS short platform, we've recently learned that Camaro isn't going to get smaller. The platform is actually going to get larger as it is going to be upgrading to the CTS platform. (Actually a stretched version of the ATS platform.)
Chevrolet is shooting for the Camaro to lose at least 300 pounds, however the interior space will nearly rival, especially the rear, that of the Dodge Challenger.
Expect a high performance V-8 to remain in the SS, possibly a de-tuned version from the 2014 Corvette Stingray. The 3.6 L V-6 is a carryover, but may gain about 7 to10 more horsepower and possibly two four-cylinder's. One being the GM 2.5 L Eco-Tech, and the other one being the 2.0 L turbocharged four. Expecting this pocket rocket to kick out nearly 300 hp, yet still get 35mpg..
As you can see by the illustration the 2016 Camaro is going to be extremely daring.. Proving to us once more that retro is not dead, the next Camaro draws heavily from the early 1970's model.
Expect the fender flares, LED turn signals, LED headlights, the 70's inspired egg crate grille, power everything, navigation w/options info and apps, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise, more comfortable seats, and for Chevy to finally get rid of that "Gawd awful" center stack. Chevy may even dare to add T-tops. (Just a rumor for now, but we'll keep our fingers crossed.) Either way it goes baby, its on..!
autoFrenzy.net will be looking for all of the updates pertaining to the next Camaro for 2016/17. Until then we want to thank you for reading this short but sweet future shock for July 2014.
Keep your hands on the wheel and your feet on the gas. This is Dre'.... Deuces..!!
