autoFrenzy.net's dream Machine of the month is arguably one of the most beautiful, awesome and passionate works of art to ever come out of Italy.. The 458 Italia is truly passion on wheels and poetry in motion. We recommend that you get in line to buy your concert ticket, because before you die you have got to hear this thing sing.. Now it will never be our intent to measure a car by race track performance, slalom or zero to sixty time. Instead we measure them by the passion it emits, how well it stays together and by plain old pure driving pleasure. We at autoFrenzy.net feel that there is nothing more poetic than a beautiful and well thought out automobile that can just be hopped into on a Sunday, washed, driven and enjoyed..
In so many of the automobiles that we drive, it seems that we want a cross between something that we can cruise comfortably in as well as something that is going to get up and go when we want it too. Ferrari as well as a few other honorable mentions seemed to have done some sort of genius engineering job with this one and combined a Cadillac, a Porsche and an F-22 Raptor, that is easy to drive and great to be seen in.....
It somewhat favors another Italian Supercar, Lamborghini. Kudos to the Italian's for always trying something new and on the edge. Sliding into the car is probable the most difficult thing about this work of art because once you are in you are treated to a fabulous and surprisingly comfortable interior with double stitched leather seats and a dash that feels kinda like a throwback because of the single analog gauge and some sort of red switch that looks like it belongs on a pinball machine. The the steering wheel felt great in my hands and there was no stick shifter for the transmission.. Then we started the engine.. "Wow"! If ever I could say that a car came alive, this would be the time to say it because the rumble of that V8 was to die for.. It sounds like a cross between a roaring lion and a screaming eagle. The electronic gadgets and the infotainment center then chime in and come on, as well as something else we didn't expect, GPS, an option. As mentioned before, driving this car is easy once you get used to navigating the width of it.
Ferrari has implemented three buttons in the center console, one for automatic drive, one for reverse, and the hot button for shifting with the steering wheel paddles. As aforementioned, there is no shifter, yet the push button selector works flawlessly. Smooth, direct, and instant.. We absolutely loved the LED headlights, the interior, including the the dash with the ride selector switch, (pinball switch) on the steering wheel, along with fantastic seating position. It's great. Comfort is excellent and the transmission and the engine work seamlessly together all the way up to 9,000 RPM before redlining. The signal light selectors are imbedded into the steering wheel also and are a very nice and creative touch. Brilliant. The best view of the car however, is the view that will be seen by nearly everybody most of the time and that is the rear.
Along with the high taillights, the black splitter and above all the triple exhaust pipes in the rear center of the car, the look Simply Phenomenal.!
Now in the past few years most of Europe's automobile quality has fallen sharply. Ferrari knows and hopefully has learned from this. The company will start offering seven year free scheduled maintenance in conjunction with the three year unlimited warranty. Now the tester that we got our hands on has an asking price of $231,000, and it's not near the top of the line and options can become quite pricey.. Oh, and by the way, if we didn't mention, it's Mid Engined. That's right, the trunk is in the front, so when traveling you have to do like Erika Badu and pack light.
Not only is this machine a gem to just drive through the city to catch some sites, but it's just as good to take to church on Sunday morning. (Modern love, Get's me to the church on time.) I was not surprised at how well this thing rides and corners, after all it's a Ferrari, but what I was surprised about was how docile this months dream Machine is. This prancing horse will gallop with the best of them and then, like lightning, pull into the stretch without breaking a sweat.. If you are in the market for this Stallion, she is easy to get.. All you're gonna need is a good insurance broker, a saddle and a fat ass wallet.! Thanks for checking us out.. Until next time this is Andre' reminding you to keep your hands on the wheel and your feet on the gas... Deuces..!! (oh, that means goodbye folks.!)
