auto news: first up, the Next-calade from Cadillac
Right on the heels of the release of the hot new XTS and ATS, Cadillac surprised us by throwing a curve ball and hitting us in the back with the truck that made the word "Bling" and "Eye Candy" forever go down in history as two words that were synonymous with the big, bad, everyone has to have one, take no prisoners Escalade. Well, grab your socks because the 2014 Cadillac Escalade has just broken cover.
First, lets make no bones about it. With fuel prices over the four dollar mark in some places, and the large SUV segment fading fast, the car companies have to give us a bit more these days than cushy and plush. An SUV must be able to stand the test of time, go where others can't, arrive in style, and above all today, it must also be fuel frugal. (oxymoron) With the magic numbers today in cars reaching 40 MPG and beyond, we expect the the large SUV's to do much better than the last generations 14city 19highway if that class of automobiles is to still stay viable. Enter the Cadillac Escalade for 2014.
The Elegant and Irresistible tank...!
The next Escalade is going to be built on a more flexible unibody chassis. Shouldn't be much of a problem because I have yet to meet anyone with an Escalade that takes it off-roading anyway. The new unibody chassis should turn the already butter smooth ride of the Escalade into Spun Silk. Magnetic shocks and 20 to 22 inch rims will be in play on many of them. You can also expect a stretched version of the SUV (sport utility vehicle) that will now become a CUV (crossover utility vehicle). The design has taken more of a Hummer look but don't expect it to be as low slung. The word is that GM is currently working on twin-turbocharging the current 3.6 V6 workhorse engine as one of the options as well as a new 8 or 7 speed transmission. We are also counting on a smaller displacement V8 in the future that will get about 19city and 27mpg highway, and you will need all of the power that you can get, because this thing is still big. You can also expect every option known to mankind and womankind including the magic, (your out of your lane), Vibration seats and CUE, (Cadillac User Experience) entertainment system.
The New Cadillac Escalade is as in your face as any vehicle can get, and whats better is that there is certainly no mistaking it for anything else. I'm sure that some will think that it's just too flashy, and too brash, but that's what you buy this truck for. If you love it now, good. If you hate the new design, just wait a year or two because it will grow on you. There are no interior pictures at this time and prices have not been announced as of yet, but as soon as they are, we will be on it most def.. We have become dependent on our large cars and trucks to get us from point A to point B, and carry lots of stuff with us as we go. It is important that car companies keep this class of vehicle viable to the public, and you can trust me on this. Viable is definitely where Cadillac intends to keep the Next Escalade. Thanks for reading autoFrenzy.net's future Shock for the month of August 2012, and remember as always to keep your hands on the wheel, and your feet on the gas.. Time to take out my checkbook and go stand in line.. This is Dre'.. Deuces..!!
